Meet Your Veterinary Team

Dr. Norwood discovered a love for animals at a very young age – in fact, his mother predicted he would become a veterinarian or a surgeon when he was just six years old. Originally from Indiana, he attended Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine where he met his classmate Critter Fixer, Dr. Terrence Ferguson and  Dr. Vernard Hodges. Prior to graduating in 1998, he was chosen for the summer externship at the Atlanta Zoo where he gained various skills and experience in exotic and zoo animal medicine and surgery. He also spent summers working for Fort Wayne children ’s Zoo  and USDA veterinary Services in Pennsylvania.

After graduation, he joined the PetSmart Veterinary Services team and started his professional career at the Duluth location where he practiced medicine and surgery for 2 years before he deciding to join Braelinn Animal Hospital in 2000 and practiced for five years before going on to open his own animal hospital in Stone Mountain. He successfully ran that clinic for twelve years before returning to Peachtree City in 2017. During that time he also practiced throughout the Greater Atlanta Area including but not limited to emergency medicine and surgery at Southern Crescent Veterinary Emergency / South Atlanta Veterinary Emergency and Specialty hospital, Union City Veterinary Medical and Emergency Clinic, Senoia Animal Hospital, East Coweta Animal Hospital, and various others.

He teamed up with the Critter Fixers in 2023 to open their 1st PetSmart Veterinary Services at the Smyrna location .

Dr. Norwood has two sons, Jason and Paul, whom he enjoys coaching, fishing, and experiencing adventures and daughter , Sylvia, who he enjoyed raising, and supporting her through her educational and sports career from grade school, high school through college.  He’s also a big game fishing enthusiast and enjoys playing golf.  He is the proud pet parent of his rescue dogs Tanner, a lab-mastiff, and Cinco, a Yorkshire terrier.

My name is Leah. I am currently a college student and in my spare time, I like to do puzzles, play board games with my family, and hang out with my animals at home. I have 4 dogs, 2 chihuahuas and 2 pit bulls, a bunny, a bearded dragon, a turtle, fish, snakes, and chickens. Becoming a veterinary receptionist has been a blessing and I love seeing all the cute pets that walk through the door!

Hi, I'm Elizabeth, one of the vet assistants here at PVS. I'm a lifelong animal lover, and have 2 chihuahuas, 2 bunnies, and a cat! I love my job, as it allows me to help you and your fur babies.  

I have been caring for pets for several years and currently have three. One dog and two cats. I am passionate about animals and truly enjoy my work.

My name is VJ and I work for PetSmart Veterinary Services. I am Dr. Hodges' son and am in school to follow in his footsteps to become a veterinarian. I love to see animals flourish and want to give your pet the best care possible!
